The video installation Present Absence is a real-time recording walking through the dark space of an abandoned factory, I used a camera strobe to find my way. This way, I created a form of photography on video. The flash duration is so short that one can only ‘just’ see it, leaving a lingering ‘after image’ on the retina. At the same time, and in a similar way, the flash lightens the space pitch dark space in which it is projected, In fact, the light of the flash exposes the brevity of the photographic moment.
